If you’re like me, you’ve had the experience of deciding you want to get stronger, improve your climbing, train for an event, or just get into a better fitness routine…only to realize you have NO idea where to start your training.
You might know what you want to accomplish, but figuring out how to actually get there can be a lot harder. How often should you work out? What exercises should you be doing? How do you know if you’re doing enough? And how do you stay accountable when you’re the only person responsible for showing up? Sometimes it can feel like there are endless options for how to train, but no clear way to know which ones are actually going to help you reach your goals.
That’s where Summit’s training plans and personal training can help. Whether you want a little bit of direction or a trainer helping you every step of the way, there are options to give you a more structured approach to your training.
Summit’s Stock Training Plans
If you want some structure but still like the flexibility of working out on your own, Summit’s online training plans are a good place to start.
We have several stock plans designed for climbers, mountain athletes, and everyday movers who want to take their fitness routine to the next level. Each plan gives you a clear idea of what to do and how to approach your workouts, so you don’t have to spend your time figuring out what exercises to choose.
Every plan includes demo videos for each exercise, explanations of why the exercises are included, and clear directions for how to approach each circuit. You can follow the plan on your own schedule while still having a program designed by a Summit coach.
And if you have questions along the way, you can reach out online for coach support.
For me, that’s one of the biggest benefits of having a training plan. You don’t have to walk into the gym and spend 20 minutes trying to decide what you should do. You already have a plan, you just have to follow it.

Custom Training Plans at Summit
If you have a more specific goal or want something built around your individual needs, Summit also offers custom training plans.
A Summit trainer starts with a consultation to learn more about your goals, experience, and what you’re looking for from your training. From there, they build a program specifically for you.
You also have the option to check in with your trainer throughout the program, either in person or online. That gives you a chance to talk through your progress, ask questions, and make adjustments as you go.
A custom plan can be especially helpful when you know what you want to accomplish but aren’t sure how to build a training program that will actually get you there.
Personal Training at Summit
If you want the most support and accountability, personal training gives you the opportunity to work directly with a Summit trainer.
Personal training is available through punch passes, either one-on-one or in private small groups with our expert trainers. Your trainer builds your routine and helps guide you through the process, so you don’t have to worry about figuring out your workouts on your own.
The biggest benefit is probably the accountability. You have someone expecting you to show up, helping you stay on track, and checking in on your progress throughout your training.
And if you don’t live in Madison or can’t make it to Summit for every session, personal training and coaching support are available online, too.
Honestly, there’s something nice about having someone else take some of the planning off your plate. You don’t have to spend your time researching exercises, building workouts, or wondering whether you’re doing the right things. Your job is much simpler: show up and do the work.

Find the Right Level of Support for You
You don’t need to have your entire fitness journey figured out before you start. Maybe you just need a structured plan to follow on your own. Maybe you have a specific goal that would be easier to tackle with a custom program. Or maybe you know that having a trainer there to keep you accountable is what will help you actually stick with it. Whatever level of support you need, Summit has the facilities, trainers, and knowledge to help you keep moving forward.
Chasing a big fitness goal can feel complicated, but it doesn’t always have to be. Sometimes the hardest part is just figuring out what to do next. At Summit, we can help with that part.
